Each quarter, UCR’s International Students and Scholars office hosts a Language Circle program to help you practice your foreign language speaking skills through informal conversations with native speakers. We typically offer a variety of languages including but not limited to, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, French, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, and English. The program is open to everyone with all levels of proficiency. Join us to practice your language speaking skills and make new friends!

Language Circles are held once a week during week 2 through week 9 each quarter. Please see our upcoming events for more information about meeting times and location.

Peer Network Socials (PNS) is a student and staff developed program that offers a fun and safe space for students to learn about campus resources, to build community, and to make connections amongst peers, staff, faculty and the International Students & Scholars Office.

Each session will offer a unique program with opportunities to join one-on-one conversations, small and large group discussions, fun games and activities, raffles, prizes, and more!

Through the combined efforts of the International Students and Scholars Office and continuing UCR international students, the International Peer Mentor Program (ISPMP) is a year-round program that provides support to incoming international students. The ISPMP is presented through Student Development Theories; it consists of one-on-one meetings, exclusive events and workshops, and supplemental resources by specially trained staff and mentors, all of which aid a positive transition to campus, and foster international students’ academic success and social-cultural integration.

The mentor application is generally sent out in the month of June to all current students. Be sure to monitor your UCR email account for our International Student Newsletter and/or a direct email from us with more information on how to apply.

All current and new incoming students will be provided with a mentee application in the weeks closer to Fall and Winter quarters.

R’Culture is a program intended to educate, and brings awareness of global perspectives and culture to the UCR community. R’Culture is fun and interactive comprised of visual presentations, art and dance workshops, and trivia, presented by volunteer Cultural Ambassadors.

The CA role is open to ALL (students, scholars, staff, faculty, and UCR community members). To become a Cultural Ambassador, and to review a sample presentation and the R’Culture Resource Guide, fill out our application.
