Patrick Levita, a Business Marketing major, participated in the UCEAP University of Barcelona (UB) summer program. During his time abroad, Patrick discovered invaluable connections between cultural understanding and effective marketing strategies, which shaped his career path and outlook.

A Global Perspective on Marketing

Patrick’s experience abroad significantly influenced his marketing approach. “Studying abroad allowed me to discover that building loyalty and trust is more important than making profits.” This shift in mindset was reinforced by his experiences in Barcelona, where he saw firsthand how relationships and community-driven approaches contribute to business success. The experience also taught him the importance of financial awareness, budgeting, and making a strong first impression. They were valuable lessons that will undoubtedly shape his career in marketing. His time abroad opened his eyes to the global nature of business and the importance of understanding different cultural perspectives when working with clients worldwide.

Patrick’s experience abroad has inspired him to pursue even more growth opportunities, and the time he spent in Barcelona solidified his desire to pursue his master’s degree abroad and explore career opportunities that will allow him to live in Europe longer. He is excited about the possibility of working in a global environment. He is motivated to seek opportunities that will enable him to stay in Europe and continue his professional development. Patrick encourages future students to take the leap, saying, “If you’re seeking new perspectives in life or feel trapped in the same environment, studying abroad will expand your horizon where you will discover yourself personally and professionally in new and exciting ways.”

For those ready to break out of their comfort zones, studying abroad is a gateway to new perspectives, relationships, and experiences that can shape the rest of their lives.
